About
Laura Strong, PhD
Interface Designer,
Information Architect,
Website Designer,
Visual Artist
As the creative force behind Studio Strong, I design and produce interactive products, websites and apps that are visually appealing, easy to use, and have a strong brand identity.
For over two decades, I have worked with businesses, organizations, and teams throughout North America and abroad, so distance is never an obstacle to a good working relationship. Whether I am designing front-end or back-end systems for large-scale businesses, or informational websites for small businesses, my aim is to create interfaces that are aesthetically pleasing, highly functional, and as unique as my clients who are making a difference in the world.
While every project is different, for most I provide the following:
Clear Conceptual Design Thinking
Experience has taught me that the foundation of great design is a clear understanding of the individual needs of each client, and the target audience. Therefore, most projects start with a discovery phase, where ideas are captured and developed into a solid strategy. As a large-scale systems thinker, I am well-known for being able to listen clearly, understand everything from the big picture to the smallest details, and compile all the needs into an easy-to-follow roadmap for each project.
Professional UX & UI Design
In the information architecture phase (UX), content, flow and user experience are explored, as well as how those integrate with the chosen technology stack. Once we know what we are building, the interface design phase (UI) focuses on how the site or product looks and feels, as well as how it functions in all environments, such as desktop and various hand-held devices.
Solid Production & Teamwork Skills
For small projects, production is handled in-house at Studio Strong, but most of the time it is tightly integrated with a database and engineering team. In this case, we work together to integrate the different aspects of the project through all production phases towards testing and launch.
More About Me
Originally from Cupertino, CA, I have always been interested in pushing the boundaries of creativity, innovation and technology. Since those early days, my creative path has led me to be an Art Director in New York City, an Interactive Designer in the San Francisco Bay Area, and remote business owner for two decades on Whidbey Island in WA. And now offer my Interface Design services from my latest Northwest location in Eugene, Oregon.
An alumnus of Art Center College of Design, I have also received extensive training in the interactive design field from San Francisco State University. Additionally, I hold an MA/PhD in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, which gives me a unique archetypal insight into the stories and images we create as individuals, groups, and societies. And most recently I have completed a Pacifica Graduate certificate degree course in Applied Archetypal Astrology.
Always the explorer, when not at the computer I enjoy hiking, creating visual art, and researching consciousness and the continuously unfolding nature of reality.
I look forward to working together.
